Meet the Team
Rev Peter Cornick - Superintendent Minister
Rev Peter CornickPeter took up his post as Minister of the church in 2006, and is also Superintendent Minister of the Winchester and Eastleigh Circuit. Married to Helen, who is the Musical Director at the church, they have a son, Dan, who is at college. Peter says that preaching, both its preparation and delivery, gives him great joy, as well as guiding, managing and enabling others to fulfil their ministries. Peter says: ‘Being Minister of Chandler’s Ford is demanding – it is a big church! But its reward is supporting a team of such dedicated people who find their vocation in serving God in so many ways through the church.’

Peter trained at The Queen’s College, Birmingham, where he wrote a dissertation on expressions of inter-faith prayer for his B.D. He later gained an M.A. through Sarum College, Salisbury, studying aspects of Christian Spirituality. Peter previously served in the Salisbury, and Chichester and Bognor Regis circuits.

In time off, Peter plays golf, loves walking and reading, and, much to his surprise (and enjoyment) has recently taken up learning and playing the euphonium in the church’s Boys’ Brigade Band!

Helen Cornick - Musical Director
Helen CornickAs the Director of Music, I make sure that music is provided for each of our Sunday services. Sometimes this involves choirs or soloists; sometimes the Boys' Brigade Band or asOne (a worship band from the church); occasionally our orchestra - made up of a number of young people, children and adults who play a variety of instruments; regularly an organist/pianist.

I lead the rehearsals for singers which meet on either Friday evenings or before the service on a Sunday morning to prepare music for the morning services. In the church we also have a Junior Choir (for school years 4-7); a Youth Choir (for school years 8 - 13); and the Occasional Music Group for adults. I would be pleased to direct you to the appropriate people who lead these groups, or to know about an instrument that you play which could be a part of the orchestra, or used for another church event. The emphasis is doing our best, (and within our worship, offering the best we can to God), and so there are no auditions for any of the music groups.

In recent years we have had nationally renowned choirs come to the church to perform, and we have also performed Christian musicals with friends from the rest of the circuit and neighbouring churches.

Please contact me if you come to the church and wish to be involved in music in any way.
